My Reflection

I have been learning to write a narrative. A narrative is a story that is fiction. A group of characters or a character itself has a problem and a solution the problem gets bigger too. I really enjoyed getting ideas for a story and personally writing the narrative. Something I found challenging was getting the ideas for how they started the quest and the book bumping into Hayee's head.

My next step is to finish writing it and add some more metaphors, similes, and hyperboles.

Elapsed Time

My Reflection

We have been learning to identify different elapsed times.
I could find the correct times because all you had to do is to think of the difference between the two
 dates. I also had to convert the times into different countries by researching the time difference between
 New Zealand and other countries. I found this a bit tricky because I got some of the calculations of the times wrong. Next time I would try and find more accurate answers.

Wonder - Making a Prediction

My Reflection

I have am learning to make a prediction based on the cover and blurb of the book, and the lyric and trailer of the movie.
I was able to make a prediction according to the blurb, trailer, and the cover gave me a clue of what the book could be about.
I found it easy because I had all the ideas put together to create a good prediction.
My next step is to find more key words that could give me a better understanding of the story.

Moment In Time

My Reflection

I have been learning to write a moment in time.
I found this easy because I am good at describing where I am and what I hear, see, feel, and wonder.
Something I could do to improve my writing is to use longer sentences and more figurative language including hyperboles, similes, and onomatopoeia.
My next step is to use an alliteration, and use more interesting words too.

Alphabet Symmetry Challenge

My Reflection

I an learning to Identify lines of reflective symmetry.
I found it easy to Identify the lines because both sides had to be even in size, shape, and its position.
My next step is to identify the letters or shapes faster and more accurate.

My Speech 2019

My Reflection

I have been learning to write a persuasive speech.

I found getting a topic to write about challenging because I wanted to find a interesting and amusing topic to write about.

Something I learnt was that you need lots of facts to cover up your opinions

I found it hard to present my speech to the class but I felt proud after i did it.
My next step is to write more facts in my speech.

Something very well was using information and some detail.

I found this easy because I know how to summarise the text and I can retell the story in my own words.

My next step is to use the main ideas and start to remove the small details.

Converting Improper to Mixed Fractions

My Relfection. 
I was learning to convert improper fractions to mixed fractions. I had to convert improper fractions to mixed fractions by using my addition, and multiplication facts. I thought it was easy because you had to follow a algorithm to solve the equation. My next step is to convert bigger and larger fractions into mixed fractions.

I have been learning to write an information report.
An information report needs to have a beginning, middle and and conclusion.
It includes facts, and be written in the present tense.
I found this easy because all you had to do is research all the information and write it down in your own words. My next step is to include more facts and use more interesting words.

I have been learning to summarize information. we have been learning about Anzac
day. Something I learnt when did this activity was the poisonous gas that they used
was called xenyl chloride. something I found interesting was how they attach bayonets
to the rifle.

I have been learning to make a justified prediction about a text based on the cover and blurb. We read a novel called Treetop Treasures. My prediction was accurate because the whole thing went together and it was quite easy to predict the next one. something that surprised me was how they stayed in the boat for the whole night. My next step is to look carefully at the cover and blurb to help me think about what the story would be about.

My Reflection
I have been learning to link ideas (both implicit and explicit) in the text so I get
a greater understanding of the story. I found the definitions easy because I used
dictionary.com to help me find the meaning. I found the antonyms easy because it is basically the opposite and you can also use thesaurus to help you.
My next step is to find more interesting and longer answers for the questions .

Statistical Investigation

My Reflection

I have been learning to use the statistical enquiry cycle to carry out an investigation. 

My investigation was to find out everybody's Favourite country. I was surprised that Australia tied with China. I found out that thinking of a subject was the most challenging because there was so many to choose from. My next step is to do a bigger investigation with more people.
