Why the robot wanted Roz

Greenhouse

Last week on Monday we started our greenhouse. First we had A4 piece of paper and then we got a small piece of paper to trace around. After we did that we gave it to the teacher (Miss Lister) so that she can cut the square out and then we ruled off the corners of the greenhouse . After that  Miss Lister cut the corners of and it was almost done! The next step was decorating! We used felt pens to draw stuff that you think grew in greenhouses and wrote: your name and greenhouse. The next day we did the last step which is the bag! Miss Lister gave us a plastic zip lock bag and wrote name on it. Next ,the teacher put water on a paper towel and cotton balls in the water as well. One of the last steps was putting the pinto beans in! The bag was attached by Blu tack and a stapler. Last, day after day, the beans grew and grew until the beans grew tall.

Migration and hibernation

I learnt that there was migration. I didn't know that the birds were that clever that they can 

make a v shape on the sky. I thought it was interesting that they can make a v shape without being trained. 

Use notes and coins

I was learning to count notes and coins. it was easy to count the dollars

but it was a little bit hard to count up the cents. I always forget to put the decimal point and the the two zeros.

Speed and agility

Yesterday we went to Youth Town. There were two people called Kieran and Nina. First we played speed and agility. You had to go though the ladders without touching the pieces. The next part was the hurdles which you had to bunny hop over. The last part was getting through the agility poles. You had to go through them with your knees bent. The last game we played was cat and mouse. There was a line for the mouse and a line for the cat. If you are a mouse you have to run in a straight line without the cat catching you. Last we went back to class.

I was learning to do thirds and sixths. Every thing was easy to handle. 

I like doing thirds because they are easier.

I was learning to add numbers to big numbers. It was easy

to add smaller ones well it was hard to add the biggest numbers. I liked how they made

it simple to answer.

Plurals s and es

We were learning to make words with es at the end. It was easy to match them

but it was a little bit hard to recognise the words that don't follow the rule. If you put a es on the end, it has to be more tan one of the word.

Plurals

We learnt about plurals. They are words that end with s and that there are two of them. If you had two apples you can't call them apple because if you put it in a sentence, you would say I got two apple! It doesn't make sense.

Timothy nest

This morning we made a nest for our gosling. we put materials like paper towels, egg cartons and tissues. leaves and sticks are not materials cause they are natural. We also gave them a name. My egg was called Max. I put paper towels in to make it protected so it won't fall out. Then I put two leaves in the side so it will stay strong. The egg carton was in the middle. There was also stuffed tissue. We collected the leaves outside the playground. When there were things in the nest, we sketched the nest and labeled the picture. My favourite object was the leaves because it will keep it strong.

This week is conservation week. We are learning to protect and care about birds in NZ. The bellbird endemic and it lives everywhere in NZ, and when it calls, it rings like a bell. They get eaten by rats and stoats. It eats nectar from flowers and insects.

Maori language week

When it was Maori language week, we learnt lots about maori
 and I learnt to count in maori up to ninety! We also talked about
the feelings in maori. My group did hungry which is hiakai.

Cross country race

On Wednesday, it was the real cross country race.

Me and Daniel had a race together and I won the first round and when it was the second

round, first I was at the led but then I was puffed out so Daniel saved some energy

and bet me well was still forth place.

The magic e

In spelling, we are learning about the magic e and the silent e. It is easy to know the
cvc words but it is hard to know which word is which.

Find 'er' words

We were learning to know the 'er' sound. I learnt that new Zealanders say 'er'
as 'uh'. It was quite it's easy to recognise the words but it not hard to do it

We were learning to know the opposite of a word. It was easy to know but it was
tricky to spell some words correctly.

I was learning to write a narrative story. I like adding details to my story. It was easy to write the story and it is tricky to spell special words.

I learnt that speech marks are always used for talking. It was tricky to know where it goes

sometimes. It is easy to sound the sentences out to know if

it needs speech marks.

I am learning to know about ones, tens and hundreds.  It is easy to recognise but it was hard to know cause sometimes I get confused.

We are learning to put the words into boxes.
It was easy to find the sounds but it was quite tricky to make
the sound. When I was a year two, it used to be quite easy,
but then little bits turned to be a little hard.

We thought about stars and then we came up with 

art work of Matariki. The computer/laptop to add it

to our blog. My favourite part was

the time that we got our black paper and used chalk. 

Writing: explanation

It is also important to wear your shoes when you walk outside because it stops mud and moss getting  on your feet.




We borrow books from the library because you get something to do. It lets you learn and stops you from getting bored.




I was learning to write an explanation. I know to use my ideas from the plan. It was easy to think of ideas.

I was learning to make equal groups. It was tricky to count the dots but it was easy to skip count
in twos. It was quite fun!

I learnt how to make connections to my self.

First I thought it was pretty hard and then I made lots!

I started with the things I had seen and did.

Now I have to try to think of some different ways of

Baking ANZAC biscuits

Today we baked ANZAC biscuits. The ingredients were: 1/2 of w white flour ,  1/2 of cup sugar ,  3/4
of cup rolled oats , 3/4 of cup coconut , 100 grams butter , 1 tablespoon golden syrup , 1/2 teaspoon
baking soda and 2 tablespoons boiling water. It was yummy! I got to slide off the extra flour.

I was learning to find the place value. I learnt how to match the numbers in order. It was easy to find the pictures with the letters.

Spelling: short vowel sounds

I was learning to write words  with short vowel sounds.I know how to listen for the short i sound.it
was easy to write at least 10 for each vowel sound because I am good at sounding the words out.

I was learning to explain the features of fiction texts. It was tricky to explain story. I learnt how to
explain the story in a short way.
